Privacy, terms and accessibility

What this campaign does with your information, what this website is, and how to tell us when something on it does not work for you.

Privacy policy

Last updated: this policy takes effect when the site goes live and will be dated then.

What is collected

Only what you type into a form on this site. That may include your name, email address, telephone number, postal code, neighbourhood, address (for lawn sign requests), languages spoken, availability, the issues you care about and your message.

The site does not ask for, and must never be used to collect, financial account details, government identification numbers or passwords.

Why it is collected

  • To reply to you.
  • To organise volunteering, lawn signs and events.
  • To send campaign updates, if you asked for them.
  • To understand which issues matter in which neighbourhoods.
  • To meet record-keeping obligations under BC election law, where those apply.

How it is shared

Your information is used by the campaign team only. It is not sold, rented or traded. It is shared outside the campaign only where the law requires it — most relevantly, Elections BC requires campaigns to report contributions of $100 or more, including the contributor's name.

How long it is kept

Campaign records are kept for as long as BC election law requires and are then deleted. If you ask to be removed from campaign communications before then, that request is honoured immediately.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe — every campaign email carries a working unsubscribe link, and you can also email the campaign directly.
  • Access — ask what the campaign holds about you and it will be provided.
  • Correction and deletion — ask for a correction or removal and it will be actioned, except where election law requires a record to be kept.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and carries no analytics, advertising pixels or social media trackers. Opening a page on this site contacts no company other than the one hosting it — the typefaces are served from this domain rather than from Google Fonts, so nobody outside the campaign sees that you visited. The single exception is the map of voting places, which is served by Google and which loads only if you press the button asking for it. Your browser may store small preferences locally — a chosen language, whether you picked the light or dark theme, or an unsent form draft — which stays on your device and is never sent to the campaign. If privacy-respecting analytics are added later, this section and a cookie notice will be updated before they go live.

The map of voting places

The voting page can show the District of North Vancouver's map of voting places, which is served by Google Maps. It is not loaded when you open the page. Nothing is requested from Google unless you press the button to show it — at which point Google receives the request and may set its own cookies, as it would on any site carrying a Google map. You can avoid that entirely by using the link to the District's own website instead.

Offline storage

If your connection drops while you are filling in a form, your answers are kept in your own browser so they are not lost. They stay on your device until you send them or clear your browser data.

Terms of use

This website is published by the campaign to elect Max Zahedi as Mayor of the District of North Vancouver.

  • Content is provided for information about the campaign. It is not legal, financial or professional advice.
  • Policy positions are commitments of intent by a candidate. A mayor is one vote on a council and cannot guarantee a council decision.
  • Election dates, voting places and voting rules are set by the District of North Vancouver and Elections BC. Where this site differs from them, they are correct.
  • Links to other websites are provided for convenience. The campaign does not control and is not responsible for their content.
  • Campaign text and images are the property of the campaign. Journalists and community groups may reproduce material from the media kit in coverage of the election.
  • Submitting abusive, fraudulent or automated content through the forms on this site is not permitted.

Accessibility statement

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is not a feature of a campaign website; a voter who cannot read the voting information is a voter who was shut out.

What has been done

  • Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
  • A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
  • Colour contrast checked against AA thresholds for body text, headings and buttons.
  • Text that stays usable when enlarged to 200 per cent.
  • Form fields with real labels, clear required-field marking, and error messages that name the problem.
  • Status messages announced to screen readers.
  • Descriptive alternative text on images, and captions on published photographs.
  • A logical heading structure on every page.
  • Animation reduced automatically when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • A light and a dark theme, following your device by default and switchable from any page. Both were checked against the AA contrast thresholds, not just the light one.
  • Pages that remain readable and printable without JavaScript.

Known limitations

  • Translations of the voting essentials are pending review by native speakers.
  • Photographs and video are not yet published; captions and alternative text will be added with them.
  • Video, when published, will carry captions and a transcript.

If any part of this site prevents you from getting the information you need, contact the campaign and it will be fixed. If you need campaign information in another format — large print, plain text, read aloud over the phone — ask and it will be provided.

Campaign contribution rules

Contributions to BC municipal campaigns are governed by the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act and administered by Elections BC.

  • Only individuals may contribute. Organizations, corporations, unions and associations may not.
  • Contributors must be residents of British Columbia and Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • The 2026 individual limit is $1,429.70 per campaign.
  • Contributions of $100 or more are publicly reported, including the contributor's name.
  • You must contribute your own money. Being reimbursed by someone else, or contributing on another person's behalf, is prohibited.
  • Municipal campaign contributions do not receive tax receipts.

Online contributions are not accepted on this site until the campaign's financial agent has approved the payment system.

Figures quoted about the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant are as reported by Metro Vancouver. Reported figures can change; readers are encouraged to check the source.
